Welcome to the official website of Freedom Division, United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC). Our division meets at the Canton American Legion, located behind Canton High School. Freedom Division is only a small part of a national organization of nearly 300 units dedicated to developing American youth by instilling such values as pride, discipline, honor, courage, fidelity, and patriotism. Cadets gain these qualities through a nautically oriented training program that places an emphasis on leadership, accountability, and self-reliance.

The NSCC offers young Americans, ages 11 through 17, opportunities unparalleled by any other youth organization. Cadets meet at Weekly drills on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Throughout the school year, Cadets have the opportunity to attend several weekend-long drills throughout New England. During the summer, Cadets train aboard US Navy and Coast Guard ships and at Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard shore installations across the country. Cadets receive instruction from, and work alongside, active duty and reserve military personnel. Cadets also have opportunities to train with international Cadet programs in Australia, Bermuda, Great Britain, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and many other countries.

Cadet Corps units are organized based on a military structure, and Cadets wear modified Navy uniforms. The Sea Cadet program allows young men and women to experience what life is like in the military while still in high school; participation in the NSCC does not come with a commitment to the armed services after graduation. The armed services recognize the benefits of the NSCC, however: if a Cadet enlists in the US Navy or Marine Corps, they may do so at an advanced pay grade.

Our missions are to develop youth, encourage citizenship, and encourage an interest in the maritime services. For new visitors, please feel free to contact me if you want to find out more about what we have to offer. For our current personnel, please take advantage of all of the resources on this site. Thank you for your interest.

Welcome aboard,

Ensign Brian D. Kelley , NSCC
